How Can Fruit Help with Crossfit?
- Eliminate Soreness
- Decrease Inflammation
- Enhanced Recovery
When it comes to high-impact sports, Crossfit must be near the top of the list. There are several aspects of the sport that need frequent maintenance in order to perform at peak performance. From joints and muscles to mobility, taking care of your body is important if you are pursuing goals in crossfit.
One study on crossfit athletes found that supplementation of pomegranates, tart cherries and teas before and after a workout “may provide benefits during certain sport-specific performance in trained CrossFit athletes” (Outlaw et al. 369).
Another crossfit website lists a few specific benefits of tart cherries. For example, “Another great benefit for cherry lovers is the ability to help eliminate soreness post workout. It is suggested that eating a cup and a half of tart cherries or one cup of tart cherry juice can significantly reduce muscle inflammation and soreness. Remember that a good workout actually causes muscle damage because of the microtears you are creating in your muscles which result in inflammation” (“All About Them Cherries!”).
Whether it is tart cherries, blueberries, dragon fruit, acai, or any number of other high-antioxidant fruits, these fruits can be a key part of achieving your crossfit goals.
